The works of art of the artist Giuseppe Rocco in Piano di Sorrento
Of that secular, suggestive and traditional art in the Sorrento Coast known as inlaid wood work, Giuseppe Rocco is a real maestro and important exponent. The wood work or inlaid wood work, decorations make working on the wood, is since 1800 a consolidated tradition in the world of Sorrento craftsmanship.
In the field of planning a series of cultural events that see as the main character the Sorrento Coast, the Campania artist Giuseppe Rocco, who started his career as a painter and only after that he dedicated his life to the wood work, will exhibit some of his works of art in Piano di Sorrento, from May 31st to July 20th 2008.
In a public park rich with rare and prestigious plants, overlooking the sea, in the splendid atmosphere of Villa Fondi, siege of the Territorial Archaeological Museum of the Sorrento Coast, you can admire paintings and woodworks of the artist, famous for having worked on famous public and private works placed in several churches of Campania, like the drums that decorate the entrance doors of the Sorrento Dome, the decorations in the San Michele Basilica in Piano di Sorrento. The exhibition is open everyday, except on Monday, from 10.00 am to 1.00 pm and from 5.30 to 9.00 pm.
